Laidi Palace Residency, in collaboration with Dirty Deal Audio, announces the second edition of a 14-day interdisciplinary residency dedicated to immersive music and performance. The programme invites teams of five artists to collectively explore spatial sound, stage-based practices and the surrounding human and non-human landscape of Kurzeme, Latvia. During the residency, participants will live at Laidi Palace and develop their work within DDA’s professional sound studio environment.
At the centre of this programme is an ambisonic sound system — a multi-speaker spatial audio setup that allows sound to move three-dimensionally in space, creating an enveloping listening experience rather than a traditional frontal concert format. Teams must include at least one artist experienced in ambisonic or spatial audio practices and one artist working in stage-based forms such as music, performance, choreography, video or theatre. The residency culminates in a public presentation and the creation of a minimum 7-minute immersive music piece.
This open call is open to multidisciplinary teams ready to work collaboratively and independently. Selected participants will have access to DDA’s 17+2 speaker system, studio equipment, dramaturgical support and documentation tools, while accommodation is provided at Laidi Palace. Travel and food expenses must be covered by participants.

Perpetual Open Call for Artists
Perpetual Open Call for Artists
Laidi is located in a rural manor house in Latvia, surrounded by forest and long seasonal cycles. The residency functions as a shared living and working environment where artists develop their practice in relation to landscape, duration, and collective presence. We value processes that unfold at their own pace and that grow from attentive engagement with place and time.
Residency periods may range from one to six months, depending on availability and the needs of the applicant. There is no residency fee. For longer stays (three months or more), participation in the shared rhythm of the house is expected as part of living collectively. Sustainability is based on mutual awareness and care rather than obligation.
Residents are invited to contribute to the Let Go Journal, the residency’s online periodical and living archive, through any medium relevant to their practice.
To apply, please share your practice, your proposed duration, and your intention for spending time at Laidi. Applications are reviewed continuously, and the call remains open year-round.
